Adding Moderators and VIPs

As a chat room owner, especially if your room is popular, the ability to control chat completely, or to delegate responsibility, is crucial to keeping things on track. Fortunately, our chat software allows you to do this rather easily. To begin, double-click within the chat window, among the chat text or in the empty space between messages, or click the Room Settings button (see Figure 1), found at the bottom left of the chat window.

Moderators

Moderators gain the ability to kick, ban, and mute other users (see the Muting, Kicking, and Banning Users topic for more details). They also have the ability to chat even if a room is set to "moderated" (see the Room Modes topic for more details about this). To add a moderator, from the Room Settings dialog, go to the "Mods" tab (see Figure 2), and either select the username from the drop-down box containing all users currently in the room, or type their username manually into the text field supplied and press the "Add" button (see Figure 3). Moderators get a symbol next to their username in the user list so that anyone in the room will know their status.

VIPs

VIPs are special users that can chat even if your room is set to "moderated". (See the Room Modes topic for more details on this.) To add a VIP, from the Room Settings dialog, go to the "VIPs" tab (see Figure 2), and either select the username from the list of people currently in the room, or type the username into the supplied text field, and then press "Add" (see Figure 3). VIPs will get a special symbol next to their name in the room's user list to display their status.
